For the first equation subtract y from both sides
8x+-+y+=+cross%28y+-+y%29+%2B+1
8x+-+y+=++1
Rearrange the 2nd equation to have x come first
8x+%2B+3y+=7
Now you can line up the the like terms
8x+-+y+=++1
8x+%2B+3y+=7
