You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x-2y=-5
-3x-y=-1

add up the two:
-3y=-6
%28-3y%29%2F-3=-6%2F-3
y=2

Multiply (3x-2y=-5) by -1 to get: -3x+2y=5
Multiply (-3x-y=-1) by 2 to get: -6x-2y=-2
-3x+2y=5
-6x-2y=-2

add up the two:
-9x=3
%28-9x%29%2F%28-9%29=3%2F%28-9%29
x=-1%2F3

You can solve this with simultaneous equations.
3x - 2y = -5
-3x -y = -1
Add the two equations.
-3y = -6
therefore y = 2.
Check in first equation
3x -4 = -5
x = -1/3
we can now plug this into the 2nd equation to check.
1 - 2 = -1
The answers check for us.
