You can put this solution on YOUR website! Natasha has more than $1 but less than $10 worth of dimes. when she puts her dimes in stacks of three, she has one left over. when she puts them in stacks of four, she has one left over. when she puts them in stacks of five she has one left over. how many dimes does natasha have
---------
Let "x" be the number of dimes:
(x-1)/3 = y1
----
(x-1)/4 = y2
----
(x-1)/5 = y3
--------------------
I entered those equations into my TI-84, then
looked to see what value of "x" whould give
whole-number values for "y".
----
Ans: x = 61
Note: 61 = 5*4*3 + 1
