Question 743324: Juan threw five darts. the possible scores on the target were 2,4,6,8,10. each dart hit the target. which of these total scores are you certain is NOT possible? 38, 38, 58, 30, 41, 31, 26, 6, 14, 15 (your solution must include an explanation of why you cannot make a particular score)
Hope someone can help me with this problem!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you add any number of even numbers you will always
get another even number. Therefore it's impossible to
get an odd number, so of these:
38, 38, 58, 30, 41, 31, 26, 6, 14, 15
the odd numbers 41, 31 and 15 are impossible
Also hitting 5 2's is the minimum possible score of 10, so 6
is impossible.
Also hitting 5 10's is the maximum possible score of 50, so 58
is impossible.
So the impossible ones are 6, 15, 31, 41, 58
[By the way, did you intend to list 38 twice?]
