Case 1: 5(x+3)-2(x+1)=4
5x+15-2x-2=4
3x+13=4
3x=-9
x=-3
Case 2: -5(x+3)-2(x+1)=4
-5x-15-2x-2=4
-7x-17=4
-7x=21
x=-3
Therefore: x=-3
