Question 741643: Please Help Me solve this problem.
It took 32 liters of gas to travel 450 km. How many liters would it take to drive 800 km (round it to the nearest tenth).
I figured if I took the 450 km times 2 would give 900 km and 64 liters to do this. I guessed it would be between 55 to 60 Liters to do this; but that is my guess and do not know how to work the problem out.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Set up a ratio:

%2832+liters%29%2F%28450+km%29+=+%28x+liters%29%2F%28800+km%29

Cross multiply!

Since a%2Fb=c%2Fd+ means ad=bc, the above equation means that
32%2A800=+450%2Ax

Then divide by 450:

x=%2832%2A800%29%2F450=56.88889+ which rounds to 56.9 liters.

PROPORTION!

%28450__km%2F32__liters%29=%28800__km%2FV__liters%29

450%2F32=800%2FV

32%2F450=V%2F800

V=800%2A32%2F450

V=57 liters
