  8d -1(-7c-2d)  Now is it clear that you have to distribute -1 to -7c and -2d?

                 by doing that you can remove ( )



  8d - 1(-7c) - 1 (-2d)  multiply 

  8d + 7c + 2d           add like terms

  10d + 7c
