Question 740258: We are doing exponents and roots in class. We are suppose to simplify the answers and leave no negative exponents or undone arithmetic. A problem I am having an issue with is
(2a-3b2)* 5a2b7/(2ab)-3
sorry that I can not make the exponents look smaller. But -3 after the a is an exponent, 2 after the b is an exponent, 2 after the a is an exponent, 7 after the b is an exponent, and the -3 after the (2ab) is a exponent. Anything you can do to explain would be appreciated!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
%282a-3b%5E2%29* %285a%5E2b%5E7%29%2F%282ab%29%5E-3
distribute
%282a-3b%5E2%29* %285a%5E2b%5E7%29%2F%282%5E-3a%5E-3b%5E-3%29
combine the exponents of like terms
%282a-3b%5E2%29* %285%2A2%5E3a%5E%28%282%2B3%29%29b%5E%287%2B3%29%29%29
%282a-3b%5E2%29* 5%2A8a%5E5b%5E10
distribute again
%282a-3b%5E2%29* 40a%5E5b%5E10 = 80a%5E6b%5E10+-+120a%5E5b%5E12
or we can just put it in the factored form
40a%5E5b%5E10%282a+-+3b%5E2%29
