You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The perimeter of a rectangle is 62 cm.
Twice the width is five more than the length.
Find the dimensions of a rectangle.
:
Let L = the length
Let W = the width
:
Write an equation for the statement:
Twice the width is five more than the length."
2W = L + 5
We can also write this
L = (2W - 5)
:
"The perimeter of a rectangle is 62 cm."
2L + 2W = 62
simplify, divide eq by 2, and you have:
L + W = 31
Replace L with (2W-5)
(2w-5) + W = 31
3W = 31 + 5
3W = 36
W = 12
:
I'll let you find the Length, then check the perimeter
