Question 738838: Your boat goes 20 MPH full throttle. You are going downstream at full throttle, 20 MPH. The river is flowing at 10 MPH. The river is straight and there is a straight road beside the river. How fast will a car have to travel to keep up with the boat? 20 MPH or 30 MPH?
Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The speed of the current gets added to the
speed of the boat, so +20+%2B+10+=+30+ mi/hr
A car beside the boat would also have to
travel at +30+ mi/hr
