SOLUTION: Write answer in scientific notation: (4.1*10^2)(3*10^-5) I did: (4.1*3)*(10^2*10^5)=(4.1*3)*10^7=12.3x10^7 as my answer Here is where I am confused, since the number is greate

Question 738449: Write answer in scientific notation:
(4.1*10^2)(3*10^-5)
I did: (4.1*3)*(10^2*10^5)=(4.1*3)*10^7=12.3x10^7 as my answer
Here is where I am confused, since the number is greater than 10 should it still be written in scientific notation? Is my answer correct? Thanks
I then reworked the problem as 0.0123 or 1.23x10^-2, a previous answerer said the exp was ^2, which is correct?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You're first answer was correct, except because your answer was greater than 10, it should be written as 1.23*10^8. You move the decimal point over one and increase the decimal one; in scientific notation, you can only have 1 integer before the decimal.
