a) First we need to find out how fast both pipes fill the tank.
b) Then we need to find out how much both pipes fill the tank in 2 hours
c) Then we need to find out much more needs to be filled
d) Then we need to find out how long pipe B will need to complete the job.
a) 1/8+1/6=1/x
x=24/7= 3 3/7=x = 3.4286 hours
b) after 2 hours it has done 2/(24/7) =7/12 =58.33%
c) leaving 5/12
d) 5/12 *6 =5*6/12=2.5 hours for pipe b to complete the job.
