Write an equation for each statement:

k = %28r%2Bj%29%2F2
mult both sides by 2
2k = r + j
:
" 3 years ago, the sum of ages of rolfe, jam and kyle was 66."
(r-3) + (j-3) + (k-3) = 66
r + j + k - 9 = 66
r + j + k = 66+9
r + j + k = 75
From the 1st statement, replace r + j with 2k
2k + k = 75
3k = 75
k = 75/3
k = 25 yrs is Kyle's age

k + 5 = j
replace k with 25
25 + 5 = j
j = 30 yrs is Jam's age
