Use the definition of a logarithm which states that the
logarithm equation log%28B%2CA%29=C is equivalent to the
exponential equation A=B%5EC.

Therefore your logarithm equation is equivalent to this
exponential equation:

3x - 3 = 32
3x - 3 = 9
    3x = 12
     x = 4
