You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the equation of the line that bisects the acute angle formed by the lines: x+2y=-2 and y=5x-6
--------------
Find the intersection of the 2 lines, label it point A
x + 10x-12 = -2
11x = 10
x = 10/11
y = -16/11
--> (10/11,-16/11)
---------------------
The slope of x+2y = -2 is -1/2
The slope of y = 5x+6 is 5
----------
The slope of the bisector =
tan(atan(5) + atan(-1/2))/2
=~ -2.04464
----------------
Use the slope and the point to find b, the intercept.
Then y = mx + b
