Question 734484: I need to find cos of X. the triangle seems to be an obtuse scalene triangle. the hypotenuse is 12, since its the longest side. the adjacent angle i am guessing is 7 and the opposite has a length of 8. how do i solve for the cos x if the question says the answers have to be
–0.28
–0.18
0.18
0.28
please help thank you. ive tried solving it by changing from degrees to radian but im not getting any of these answers. Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! I need to find cos of X. the triangle seems to be an obtuse scalene triangle. the hypotenuse is 12, since its the longest side. the adjacent angle i am guessing is 7 and the opposite has a length of 8.
---------------
If the side opposite angle x is 8, and the other sides are 7 and 12:
Solve for cos(x)
------
I don't know why you're guessing it's 7.
Also, hypotenuse applies only to right triangles.
