Question 732613: PLEASE HELP ME!!! A radio transmission tower is 210 feet tall. How long should a guys wire be if it is to be attached 8 feet from the top and is to make an angle of 25 degrees with the ground? Give your answer to the nearest tenth of a foot. Please show your work!
(A) 496.9 feet
(B) 222.9 feet
(C) 478 feet
(D) 231.7 feet
I drew a right triangle and put 202 for the height (210feet-8feet=202feet) and 25 degrees at the angle at the bottom of my right triangle, and then I took sin(25 degrees)(202) and didn't get an answer that was an actual choice. Can you explain it to me please?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The 25 degree angle is the angle between the ground and the wire. The pole height (208 feet) is the side opposite the angle. The wire length is the hypotenuse of the right triangle.

sin (25 degrees) = 202/x

x = 202/sin(25 degrees) = 477.97 feet = approximately 478 feet. C
