Question 732221: Does the set of ordered pairs {(2, 100), (13, 13), (14, 5), (60, 4), (100, 1)} define a function?
Answer by Edwin McCravy(20065) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
{(2, 100), (13, 13), (14, 5), (60, 4), (100, 1)}
Yes it's a function because the six first coordinates,
2, 13, 14, 60, and 100 are all different.
------------------------------------------------
Here's a set of ordered pairs that is NOT a function:
{(4, 87), (15, 42), (15, 23), (75, 1), (100, 4)}
That's not a function because (15, 42) and (15, 23) have the same
first coordinate, which is not allowed in a function.
