Question 731273: I don't understand how to complete this problem. The answer key says it should be 2 but I don't get that answer. Here's the problem(sorry I don't know how to type this stuff):
The cube root of 88 / the cube root of 11
I did 88^1/3 over 11^1/3 and then got 88/11 which then becomes 8. Please help! I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Thank you :)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The cube root of 88 / the cube root of 11
-------------
root%283%2C88%29%2Froot%283%2C11%29+=+root%283%2C8%29
= 2

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The cube root of 88 / the cube root of 11
3sqrt%2888%29%2F%283sqrt%2811%29%29
Factor inside the numerator radical to reveal a perfect cube
3sqrt%288%2A11%29%2F%283sqrt%2811%29%29
Extract the cube root of 8 and you have
2%2A3sqrt%2811%29%2F%283sqrt%2811%29%29 = 2
(cube root of 11 over cube root of 11 = 1)
