You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Call the bigger number x and the smaller number y.

x+y = 60 and x-y = 43

From equation 1: x = 60-y. Substitute that into equation 2: 60-y-y = 43

60-2y = 43

17 = 2y

17/2 = y

x = 60-y = 60 - 17/2 = 120/2 - 17/2 = 103/2

x%5E2+=+%28103%2F2%29%5E2+=+10609%2F4

y%5E2+=+%2817%2F2%29%5E2+=+289%2F4

The difference of the squares is x%5E2+-+y%5E2+=+10609%2F4+-+289%2F4+=+10320%2F4+=+2580
