Question 730862: Goals scored by a hockey team:
3,5,0,1,2,5,1,6,1,5,4,4,2
The team scored the same number of goals in the next two games and brought their mean goals up to 3.4. How many goals did they score in their next two games

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x = score on each of the two games
The scores, 3,5,0,1,2,5,1,6,1,5,4,4,2 and the two additional scores (x and x) add up and divide by 15 (since there are 15 scores total...with the two x scores added on). This result is equal to 3.4
So this means...
(3+5+0+1+2+5+1+6+1+5+4+4+2+x+x)/15 = 3.4
(39+2x)/15 = 3.4
39+2x = 15*3.4
39+2x = 51
2x = 51-39
2x = 12
x = 12/2
x = 6
So they scored 6 goals for each of the next two games (6+6 = 12 goals for the next two games combined)
