Question 730347: in this problem, "A" is an exponent.
a golf ball is dropped from (A) feet above the ground onto a hard surface, the maximum height of each bounce will be 1/2 of the height of the previous bounce. Find an exponential equation that gives the height (h) the ball will attain during the (n)th bounce. If the ball is dropped from 10 feet above the ground onto a hard surface, how high will it bounce on the 8th bounce

No. A is not an exponent in this problem if, in fact, A represents the initial height. The exponent is the number of bounces, namely in your problem description.

Personnally, I prefer to use the function name with a subscript of "o" as the initial parameter, but either way, it is the same function.

Plug in your initial height and number of bounces and then do the arithmetic.
