Hi,
For this problem we need to put our equation in slope intercept form which is y=mx+b, with m as our slope and b as our y-intercept. Putting the equation in this form will help us to easily identify our slope and y-intercept. Our first step in this problem is to subtract 5x from both sides to get our y term by itself. After doing this we have 6y= -5x+12. Our final step, to get y by itself is to divide each side by 6 to get y= -5/6x+2. We can now identify our slope as -5/6 and our y inercept as 2 to get our final answer. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions. :)
Here is how to do the problem without an expalnation...
5x+6y= 12
-5x -5x
------------
6y= (-5x+12)/6
--
6
y= -5/6x+2
Hope this helps! :)
