Question 728885: can someone PLEASE help me with this. I would really appreciate the help, I cannot figure this out
you have just accepted a job selling furniture at a store. the hiring manager offers you two payment plans. plan 1 offers you a weekly salary of $100 and a commission of 9% of your sales. plan 2 offers a weekly salary of $220 and a commission of 3% of your sales.
(a)what is the amount of sales above which plan 1 is the better offer?
(b)if you have no experience selling furniture, which would be the best plan to start with, plan 1 or plan 2?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x Sales
Plan I 100 + 0.09 x
Plan II 220 + 0.03 x
Plan I > Plan II
100 + 0.09 x > 220 + 0.03 x
add -100 to both sides
100 + 0.09 n- -100 > 220 + 0.03 x -100
0.09 n- -220 > > 0.03 x 120
add -0.03 x
0.06 x > 120
/ 0.06
x < 2000
x should be less than 2000 for Plan I to be a better deal
I would accept plan I in the given situation
