Hi,
For this problem, we are going to make two binomials that are going to be multiplied together to make a trinomial. So when we factor we get (x+1)(x+2). We can check our answer using the foil method (foil stands for first, outer, inner, last) and these are the terms we will multiply together to get our original trinomial. So our first terms (x and x) multiply to x^2, our outer terms (x and 2)multiply to 2x, our inner terms(1 and x)multiply to 1x or x and our last terms (1 and 2) mutiply to 2. So we now have x^2+1x+3x+2, which simplifies to x^2+3x+2, which is our original trinomial. So we have factored right. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions. :)
