Question 725370: Probability, "Or" and "And". One card is selected from a deck of playing cards. Determine the probability of selecting a jack OR a club Answer by erika514(39) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi. :) This one is simple...
So there are 52 cards in a deck, there are 13 cards in a suit and four jacks in a deck. So we need to multiply the probability of selecting a jack by the probability of selecting a card of the clubs suit. So our probabilities are 4/52 and 13/52 and when we multiply them, we get 4/208, which can be simplified to 1/52. So our probability is 1/52. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions. :)
