Question 721864: The total curb weight of a truck, a big car, and a small car is 9745. The weight of the big car is 100 lbs less than the weight of two of the small cars. The truck weights 2865 lbs more than the small car. What is the curb weight of each vehicle?
Small car weight:
Big car weight:
Truck weight:

I've given each vehicle a variable:
x=truck
y=big car
z=small car

I've tried putting the words into math problems:
x+y+z=9745
2z-100=y
z+2865=x

But now I am stuck and I don't know how to combine them in order to get the individualized weight of x.y. and z. Please help me!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! The total curb weight of a truck, a big car, and a small car is 9745. The weight of the big car is 100 lbs less than the weight of two of the small cars. The truck weights 2865 lbs more than the small car. What is the curb weight of each vehicle?
***
let x=weight of the small car
2x-100=weight of the big car
x+2865= weight of the truck
weight of a truck, a big car, and a small car is 9745
x+(2x-100)+(x+2865)=9745
4x+2765=9745
4x=9745-2765
4x=6980
x=1745
2x-100=3390
x+2865=4610
weight of the small car=1745 lbs
weight of the big car=3390 lbs
weight of the truck=4610 lbs
