Question 720127: How do you convert x degrees centigrade to y degrees fahrenheit? The function is f(x)9/5x + 32 now find the inverse.Is it 5/9-32? How would you graph both of these and show a common degree? Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! How do you convert x degrees centigrade to y degrees fahrenheit? The function is f(x)= 9/5x + 32 (the green graph)
write it
y = x + 32
find the inverse, replace x with y and solve for y y + 32 = x
subtract 32 from both sides y = x - 32
multiply both sides by 5/9, and you have
y = (x-32), which is Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion fraction (red graph)
:
-40 degrees is the same in both system shown by the graph
Blue horizontal lines shows the boiling point of water on both sytems
