You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.5/5=.1 or 10% of the can of paint was used for each chair.

You can ask this same question in a different way:
" How can I divide a half-can of paint into 5 equal parts? "
You can paint a single chair with 1/5 of the half-can of paint
A 1/5 of a half-can is the same as 1/10 of a whole can.
So, the 5 chairs get:
1/10 + 1/10 + 1/10 + 1/10 + 1/10 = 5/10
and 5/10 is a half-can of paint
So, each chair gets 1/10 of a can of paint
Make sense?
