Question 718632: How many sheets of paper were there in a pack if there were 464 sheets left after Michelle had taken two-sixths of them?
Really need help on this one!!
Answer by rapaljer(4671) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If Michelle took 2/6 or 1/3 of the sheets, this means that 2/3 of the sheets remain. Let x = number of sheets originally in the pack.
2/3*x = 464
To solve the equation for x, multiply both sides of the equation by 3/2 to "undo" the 2/3,
x=3/2*464=3*232=696 sheets.
