Question 71580: 2log based 3 (x+4)- log base 3 9=2
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 2log(base 3) (x+4)- log(base 3) 9=2
Keep "base 3" in mind:
log(x+4)^2 - log9 = 2
log[((x+4)^2)/9)] =2
Now use the fact that it is "base 3":
(x+4)^2 / 9 = 3^2
(x+4)^2 = 81
x+4 = 9 or x+4 = -9
x = 5 or x=-13
Only x=9 is a real solution:the other is extraneous.
