The 84% represents the percent you got right. If you got 84% right, what percent did you get wrong? Answer: 100-84 = 16%

We needed to find the 16% because we know how many we got wrong and we can only use that number with the percent wrong to solve the problem. We can set up a proportion:
16%2F100+=+8%2Fx
Solving this we should find that x = 50. So if 8 wrong is 16%, then 50 is 100% (or the whole test. So there are 50 questions on the entire test.
