| Question 714612: Find an equation of the line having given the slope and containing the given point m=2/3; (1,-8)
 Write an equation of the line containing the given point and parallel to the given line. (6,-9); 6x-5y=7
 I have tried several solutions for to solve these problems but nothing seems to work. I would greatly appreciate any help in solving these. Thank you.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Find an equation of the line having given the slope and containing the given point m=2/3; (1,-8) ------
 Form: y = mx + b
 Solve for "b":
 -8 = (2/3)1 + b
 (-24/3) = 2/3 + b
 b = (-26/3)
 -----
 Equation:
 y = (2/3)x - (26/3)
 =============================

 Write an equation of the line containing the given point and parallel to the given line. (6,-9); 6x-5y=7
 ------
 The given line has slope = (6/5)
 -----
 Form: y = mx + b
 Solve for "b":
 -9 = (6/5)6 + b
 -45/5 = 36/5 + b
 b = -81/5
 ------
 Equation:
 y = (6/5)x - (81/5)
