Question 71121: 10y^2+9y+2 Factor completely
I know that 10 is the GCF and i factor out 5 but I don't know what to do with the 9y. I missed a class and the tutors at school donl't work weekends.
If you could show me how it is done. It would help. I cannot find an example in the book that compares

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
10y^2+9y+2 needs to be factored thus:
(5y+2)(2y+1)
If you can't figure out the factors of 10 & 2 that add up to 9 then maybe you should use the quadratic equation. Thus:
x+=+%28-b+%2B-+sqrt%28+b%5E2-4%2Aa%2Ac+%29%29%2F%282%2Aa%29+
Where ay^2+by+c=0 is the standard form of the quadratic equation.
