Question 70942: (x/7)-(1/4)<=(x/3)+1
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (x/7) - (1/4) <= (x/3) + 1
:
Get rid of the denominators, multiply equation by 7*4*3 = 84
(84)(x/7) - (84)(1/4) <= (84)(x/3) + (84)1
:
12x - 21 <= 28x + 84
:
12x <= 28x + 84 + 21
:
12x - 28x <= +105
:
-16x <= 105
:
We always want the variable (x) to be positive, multiply equation by -1
When we do this, we must reverse the inequality sign from < to >
+16x >= -105
:
x >= -105/16
:
A rather cumbersome fraction, I did check it by substitution. Did this help you?
