You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The probability of an event NOT happening is 1 - the probability of the event happening.
Eg. If there is a 25% chance of rain then the chance of NO rain is 1 - 25% (100% - 25%) = 75%
So in this problem
P{NOT ace OR heart}=1-P{ace OR heart}
the chance of getting an ace is 4 out of 52 (4%2F52) (This includes the ace of hearts)
the chance of getting a heart is 12 out of 52 (12%2F52) (can't include the ace in this as we've already counted it with the aces!)
Adding these fractions together
4%2F52%2B12%2F52=16%2F52
which simplifies to 4%2F13
so now we have
P%28NOT_ace_OR_heart%29=1-4%2F13
giving
P%28NOT_ace_OR_heart%29=9%2F13
