Plug this equation y=2-3x in for y in this equation 6x+2y=7
6x%2B2%2Ahighlight%28%282-3x%29%29=7Distribute the 2
cross%286x%29%2B4%2Bcross%28-6x%29=7The x terms cancel to give you
4=7Which is not only false, but doesnt make any sense whatsoever. This means that there is no solution for x (if you graph the equations you'll notice they are parallel, so there isn't an intersection).
Note: you have to solve the 1st equation for y.
