You can put this solution on YOUR website!
35X+50=40X+35
35X-40X=35-50
-5X=-15
X=-15/-5
X=3 MONTHS THE FEES WILL BE EQUAL.
PROOF:
35*3+50=105+50=$155 TOTAL COST.
40*3+35=120+35=$155 DITTO.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +n+ = number of months enrolled in each club
Let +C+ = total cost of belonging to a club
Equation for Fabulously fit:
(1) +C+=+35n+%2B+50+ dollars
Equation for Fitness Studio:
(2) +C+=+40n+%2B+35+ dollars
-----------------------
Just make the costs equal:
+35n+%2B+50+=+40n+%2B+35+
+5n+=+15+
+n+=+3+
In 3 months the costs will be the same
(1) +C+=+35n+%2B+50+
(1) +C+=+35%2A3+%2B+50+
(1) +C+=+105+%2B+50+
(1) +C+=+155+
and, also
(2) +C+=+40n+%2B+35+
(2) +C+=+40%2A3+%2B+35+
(2) +C+=+120+%2B+35+
(2) +C+=+155+
The Cost when both are equal is $155 in 3 months
Here's a plot for both clubs:
