You can put this solution on YOUR website! to solve any type of equation with an unknown on both sides of the equals sign....
look for the side with the least unknowns
so 3x-4=2x-10
the right hand side (of the equals sign) has 2x and the left hand side has 3x
so we take 2x from both sides to eliminate the +2x from the left hand side
giving
3x-4-2x=2x-10-2x
simplifying gives
x-4=-10
Now we have to eliminate the number from the side with the unknown on
So we have to add 4 to both sides to get rid of the -4 from the right hand side
giving
x-4+4=-10+4
simplifying gives
x=-6
