You can put this solution on YOUR website! x= cost of orange
y= cost of apple
Total sold
4 x + 5 y = 2
Total value
3 x + 4 y = 2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by -4
Multiply (2) by 5
-16 x -20 y = -8
15 x + 20 y = 8
Add the two equations
-1 x = 0
/ -1
x = 1/ 5
plug value of x in (1)
4 x + 5 y = 2
1 + 5 y = 2
5 y = 2
5 y = 1
y = 6/25
1/ 5 *100 = 20 cents cost of orange
6/25 *100= 24 cents cost of apple
