Question 705404: Suppose the diameter of a nail hole is 10 millimeters. The head of a pin is 10 to the negative 3 millimeters in diameter. How many times larger is the diameter of the nail hole than the diameter of the head of the pin?
I know the answer is 10 to the 4th power or 10,000 times larger, but I'm not sure how to set up the problem. Is it 10 to the first power divided by 10 to the 3rd power, which equals the right answer? If so, I'm not sure why it is set up that way.
