Question 704865: What is the solution set of 2x-5=7-4x
Answer by Simnepi(216) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! to solve equations with unknown on both sides
first eliminate the unknown from the side with least unknowns
since -4x < 2x we eliminate the -4x by adding 4x to both sides of the equation
giving
2x-5+4x=7-4x+4x
simplifying gives
6x-5=7
Now we eliminate the numbers from the other side by adding 5 (to both sides) to remove the -5
giving
6x-5+5=7+5
hence
6x=12
dividing by 6 gives
x=2
