You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Just subtract the area of the triangle from the area of the square.
Let x = the area left over.
Then
(1) x = 18^2 - (1/2)*9*4 or
(2) x = 324 - 18 or
(3) x = 306
Answer: The area of the yard without the flower garden is 306 square feet.
