You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A can of beans has surface area 363 cm^2. Its height is 10 cm. What is the radius of the circular top?
**
total surface area=area of side+area of top+area of bottom
let r=radius
area of side=height*circumference of circular ends=10*2πr=20πr
area of top and bottom=2*πr^2
20πr+2πr^2=363
2πr^2+20πr-363=0
solve for r using following quadratic formula:
x+=+%28-b+%2B-+sqrt%28+b%5E2-4%2Aa%2Ac+%29%29%2F%282%2Aa%29+
a=2π, b=20π, c=-363
ans: r≈4.098 cm
