Question 703398: hello there. i am having troubles with translating verbal phrases into inequalities.. so if you could help me with this problem it would be awesome. so here it is.
you spend $46 on supplies to make wooden ornaments and plan to sell the ornaments for $8.50 each. what are the possible numbers of ornaments that you can sell in order for your profit to be positive?
i tried to do it and this is what i got.
8.50x > 46
then 8.50x/8.50 then 46/8.50
i got 5.41.
did i do this somewhat right or am i way off? please help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You're right, but since you can't sell a
fraction of an ornament, you must sell 6 or more,
So it's greater than or equal to 6:

Answer: x ≧ 6
