You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Distribute the 4 across (3x + 2), then distribute the -1 across the (x + 5). Then add the opposite of any constant terms that are in the LHS so that all of the constants are in the RHS leaving the variable terms in the LHS, collect like terms, and finally multiply by the reciprocal of the coefficient on the variable.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4%283x%2B2%29-%28x%2B5%29=-3 Start with the given equation.

12x%2B8-x-5=-3 Distribute.

11x%2B3=-3 Combine like terms on the left side.

11x=-3-3 Subtract 3 from both sides.

11x=-6 Combine like terms on the right side.

x=%28-6%29%2F%2811%29 Divide both sides by 11 to isolate x.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Answer:

So the solution is x=-6%2F11
