Question 701692: x+3y=9 I need graph and points
Answer by strawberrygirl183(35) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! here what you do is write the equation (x+3y=9) into slope intercept form
which is y=mx+b
you do the inverse of addition which is subtraction and you are left with
3y=-x+9
then you divide x and 9 by 3 so you can leave the y alone
you get y=-1/3x+3 if you are asking youre self how did she get -1/3 is because remember there is always a 1 infront of a variable (x) and then you start by graphing the y intercept which is 3 so you graph it on the y line and then the slope is -1/3 so you go 1 down and 3 to the right and thats how you keep going :)
