Let d be the number of drinks sold.

Then we have:

2.50%2Ap%2B2%2Ad=336 given

p=2d given

We can then use substitution to solve, using the value of p in the second equation in the first equation:

2.50%2A%282d%29%2B2%2Ad=336

5d%2B2d=336

7d=336

d=48

Then just plug this value for d into the second equation:

p=2d

p=2%2A48

p=96

So the students sold 96 bags of popcorn (and 48 drinks).

Check it, and it should work!

2.50%2A96%2B2%2A48=336 ???

240%2B96=336 ???

336=336 YES
