You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The ratio of 4 less than a number to 26 more than that number is 1 to 3. What is the number?
:
x = the number
%28%28x-4%29%29%2F%28%28x%2B26%29%29 = 1%2F3
:
Cross multiply:
3(x-4) = x + 26
3x - 12 = x + 26
3x - x = 26 + 12
2x = 38
x = 19
:
Check: 15/45 = 1/3
