Question 700854: Bob paints a house in 3 hours. Charlie paints a house in 5 hrs. How long would it take for them to paint it together ?
Answer by neatmath(302) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! This is a pretty standard rate of work problem.
We just need to set up a simple equation.
In words, if Bob can do 1/3 of the job in 1 hour,
and Charlie can do 1/5 of the job in 1 hour,
what percentage of the job could they do working together in 1 hour?

This means they could do of the work in 1 hour.
Thus, working together, Bob and Charlie can do the work in 1.875 hours!
This is about 1 hour 52 minutes 30 seconds, which makes sense!
I hope this helps! Keep practicing! :)
